Jeff Todd was born and raised in Gettysburg, SD. While attending the University of South Dakota, he met Alane, who was born and raised in Mitchell, SD. The couple got married in 2001, and after graduating, moved to Sioux Falls. Jeff began working at Children’s Home Society, and Alane began a career in early childhood edcuation. They had two boys, Caleb born in 2003, and Joshua, born in 2006.
By January of 2009, Jeff and Alane found their lives in a crisis. They were struggling, both personally and in their marriage. At that time, both Jeff and Alane began attending Celebrate Community Church. Both recommitted their lives to Christ and God restored their marriage. Jeff and Alane began serving in the KiDS ministry at Celebrate and also joined a LIFE group.
Jeff began to sense a strong leading by God into vocational ministry. Both he and Alane began to take on leadership roles in Celebrate’s KiDS ministry. In July of 2012, Alane became the Assistant Director of Compassion Childcare, located in the Sioux Falls Ministry Center. Jeff became a Children’s Pastor at Celebrate in May 2014.
Keith Loy, founding and senior pastor of Celebrate, cast a clear vision by God in 2015 to plant 50 churches in the next 10 years. We believe that local churches, with local pastors, in local communities are the hope of the world. Early in 2016, Jeff was asked to lead one of these church plants. After much prayer, both Jeff and Alane confirmed this was God’s call for their family. This call was affirmed by the elders of Celebrate, and approved by the Wesleyan denomination.
At that time, Jeff and Alane had no idea where God was leading them to plant. Literally, the entire world was open, so they both earnestly prayed for God to reveal a community. On April 29, 2016, God very clearly put the community of Yankton on Jeff’s heart. After a week of prayer, he shared this with Alane and the leadership of Celebrate. Both affirmed this was God’s call and the transition to Yankton began.
In July of 2017, Jeff and Alane moved their family to Yankton. In September we started gathering on Sunday mornings and also began a LIFE group. We have met some amazing people and are building a team as we prepare to launch. We love the community of Yankton and are so excited to see how God will move!
